Excellent Thai food. Loved everything we ordered. Pad see-u, cashew nut, & curry. Also got the Thai iced tea, it was good but on the sweeter side. Generous portions too.

Food was amazing, service was great. Server was nice and very helpful with recommendations

We had an amazing visit to this place for lunch on Friday, even though they were swamped! Our server was so gracious and made sure we were well taken care of. He brought us all a bowl of the coconut tofu soup, even though not all of us were exactly getting a "lunch special." While I am not knowledgeable about what an authentic version of this soup would be, I found their style very tasty. It had good flavor and only a hint of coconut. For my meal, I got the lunch special pad Thai, which comes with chicken, egg, shrimp, bean sprouts, peanuts, and a Thai sauce. It was awesome! The serving size was huge even for a lunch portion, and the flavor was fantastic! My only complaint was that there were only two shrimp in the entire bowl. I expected more. I wish I have come here sooner during my time as a student, because the service was great, the atmosphere was better, and the food was fantastic.

I love Thai Basil! This was the first thai/sushi restaurant I ever tried, and ever since then, every thai restaurant I go to lets me down in comparison. The food is great. My favorite thing on the menu is the Pad See Ew with chicken. You can't beat the service. The waitstaff are always very attentive and friendly. I love how convenient the restaurant is too. You can easily walk from the UA campus/downtown Tuscaloosa.

Service was fantastic, food was also delicious. I recommend the spicy beef drunken noodles.

Wonderful food, Excellent service. Love this place! Cam was our server, and he was awesome.

One of our favorites! The Pad Thai, Panang Chicken and Maki Kaboom sushi roll are fantastic. Service is great with friendly servers! Take out is just as good too!

Notes: 1) been here a bunch 2) there's parking across the small street by the businesses (not the gas station) 3) special lunch menu (worth it) Pros: 1) the food here is pretty good 2) the service here is incredible 3) the ambiance here is great Cons: 1) the service can be slow as there is not a lot of servers Rating: 4.75/5 This is like my parents' favorite place to go. Anytime that we are in town, we end up at least going here once. I think the biggest reason is the great lunch deal here. The amount of food that you get for around 10-20 dollars is crazy. Peep the pictures. The service here is actually amazing. There's not a lot of places that have only a few servers but still do amazing in their service. We would go here at peak times and still get a seat and get our food quickly. No matter what we ordered and when we came (that's my bad on coming near closing). The food here is great too. They have a lot of good tasting food. However, I feel that some of the food taste very similarly when they should not. I'll explain later in the food rating section. The food overall is great though. I've never left unhappy with the amount and the taste of the food. The ambiance here is actually great. They have a lot of pictures and furniture pieces that look very traditional. The decor here is great! I think it's a great place to have a casual convo or hangout with people. I would say though that the biggest issue here is that it does get pretty noisy at times. There's not much dampening of the sound with the noise. Overall, I think this place is such a good deal and a good place to go to in Tuscaloosa. I would recommend coming to at least try some of their food. Food ratings: 1) submarine roll: 5/5, fish is fresh and the difference in flavor can be tasted 2) spicy hamachi roll: 4.5/5, fish is fresh but the fish was also hard to taste 3) pad kee Mao (drunken noodles): 3/5, not very traditional in terms of taste and spice but still a good dish overall 4) Thai barbecued chicken: 5/5, the chicken was still juicy for such a big piece and the rice was good. But the overall flavor changed was the sauce, man that sauce was good! 5) pad prik pork: 3/5, not traditional but not bad, the ingredients were fresh and the rice was good 6) fried rice with fried egg: 5/5, the fried egg is not standard on it but if they allow you, you gotta get the fried egg, fried rice combo. Top notch. You can also taste the umami which is great 7) coconut tofu soup: 3/5, not exactly my favorite but it is free with the lunch menu so no complaints. It's more of an acquired taste that I have yet to acquire yet. 8) Thai tea: 5/5, honestly a very good and close to real life Thai tea. It's very rich but also has they hint of sweetness that you would want

We've eaten at Thai Basil several times and enjoy it every time- they keep us coming back! The restaurant is on "the strip" adjacent to the university. During school season parking can be difficult. There is parking behind the restaurant and down one side. Be sure to loop around the building to see what spaces are available The restaurant is mid-sized with a bar room and a dining room. Seating for approximately 75+ people and can accommodate large parties if needed. The ambiance is more of a pub feel with Asian accents. Service has been good when we have eaten here. Seated quickly and staff were attentive. Food is good and the star here is the definitely the sushi. There are some very good appetizers as well with the crab wantons (Angel crabs) and basil spring rolls being some stand outs. The basil rolls have fresh shrimp as well as a cooked pork which makes for a unique flavor. The restaurant offers traditional Thai food which I thought was fine- standard Thai. The sushi- whether rolls or sashimi, are fresh and oh so good. My family's favorite is the kaboom maki and I personally love their Sa hamachi or any of their rolls with yellowtail. Portions are generally large and prices are very reasonable. Absolutely worth a stop. See you there sometime. Cheers!

The food was fine, we ordered spicy tuna roll, yumyum roll, spicy shrimp roll, hibachi beef and shrimp, and beef salad. The server was nice and the ambiance was very cosy and friendly.
